East Windsor Students Shine in Arts and Athletics, Reflecting the Portrait of the Graduate

From the concert stage to the basketball court, students across East Windsor Public Schools are excelling in extracurricular activities—showcasing their talent, collaboration, and character. These achievements reflect more than just skill and dedication; they embody the district’s Portrait of the Graduate (POG), which envisions every student as a collaborative, adaptable, resilient, empathic, critical thinker, and independent learner.

A Celebration of Music Across the Grades

On March 14, the district hosted its 1st Annual All-Town Pops Concert, uniting nearly 200 students performing from grades 4 through 12 in a vibrant celebration of musical learning and growth. Under the direction of Ms. Zoe Stinson and Ms. Gianna Borowski, with accompaniment by pianist Kim Aliczi, each ensemble delivered crowd-pleasing performances—from the high school jazz band’s high-energy take on “Dance the Night Away” to the concert band’s moving medley from How to Train Your Dragon.

More than 300 parents and community members filled the East Windsor High School auditorium, turning the evening into a powerful community celebration and a testament to the strength of the district’s growing music program. The event highlighted the students’ ability to work across age levels, demonstrating collaboration and resilience in action.

Mystery, Music, and Memorable Performances

Just weeks later, the East Windsor High School Drama Club captivated audiences with its spring production of Clue: The Musical (presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals www.concordtheatricals.com), performed April 4 and 5. With over 200 audience members in attendance, the production brought suspense, laughter, and dynamic musical numbers to the stage.

Senior Thomas Ferrick delivered a charismatic performance as Mr. Boddy, supported by a standout cast including Grace Haynes (Mr. Green), Rylee Macsata (Miss Scarlett), Rosaly Nogeurra (The Detective), Maria Ferreira (Professor Plum), and Aliyah Henry, a former student, as Mrs. Peacock. Incoming freshman Abby King impressed in the role of Mrs. White, hinting at a bright future on the East Windsor stage.

Directed by Ms. Corda, with musical direction from Ms. Borowski and creative contributions from the student production crew, the show was a shining example of artistic excellence, teamwork, and student leadership—bringing the POG vision to life through the arts.

Success on the Court and in the Community

The East Windsor High School boys and girls basketball teams wrapped up their seasons with pride and purpose. The boys team qualified for the Division 5 State Tournament, facing Coventry in the opening round, while Antonio Hernandez earned NCCC All-Conference honors for his standout play.

The girls team delivered an outstanding season, advancing to the Class M quarterfinals. Senior Bailey Winner was recognized as both NCCC All-Conference and Class M All-State—a milestone achievement for the program.

In a strong finish to the season, both teams joined forces on March 27 for a charity game against the East Windsor Police Department. The well-attended event raised funds for Parks & Recreation summer camp scholarships, reinforcing the importance of service and civil engagement.

Looking Ahead: Spring Sports in Full Swing

Spring is buzzing with athletic energy, as 138 students across the middle and high schools participate in sports including track, baseball, and softball. With 54 middle school and 84 high school athletes lacing up this season, their commitment reflects the district’s focus on perseverance, teamwork, and personal growth—core principles of the Portrait of the Graduate.
